Grandma and Grandpa visit the Little Man

Some recent photos from Grandma and Grandpa Simon's stay. Grandma Betty's midnight and late night and early morning assistance with putting Kyler back to sleep was especially appreciated. While they were here we definitely benefitted from their seasoned expertise with the 3 other grandkids. Plus, we capitalized on Kurt's electrical engineering background - and plan to do so again on his next visit. :)

Kyler's first hikes

Yes, trips is plural. We've been out hiking TWICE in the past week. Feelin' pretty good about ourselves! Last week the little man woke up early and eagerly requested that we take him on a hike (his first!) in the Oakland hills. We reluctantly agreed to the task, but only if he pooped and/or peed in his diaper at least 8 times throughout the day. We think he exceeded his quota. At the end of the hike, whilst he was unsuspectingly asleep and Deanna was relieving herself, Erich took Kyler on his first climbing adventure on the visitor center. Let the games begin! Though he sleeps in the Ergo carrier when we're walking, he is becoming much more alert and observant when he's awake. He can focus much farther and is quite interested in soaking up all the sights around him. Amazing to watch the inner-workings work!

He hasn't warmed up to the rock yet. But his friend Zachary (8 months) is getting the hang of it, and we're confident Kyler's not far behind.

Kyler's first blog!!! Welcome to the Interweb

We're starting a blog to document Kyler's existence, post a few cute photos for your viewing pleasure, and introduce him to the world wide web.

Kyler's been a real treat this first month. He's a lot of fun, sleeps relatively well, and is becoming more observant and alert every day. Erich says he's "unquestionably the cutest baby on the planet". He's gaining weight (about 1 oz per day) and we can tell he's taller/longer because he fits into his clothes better. Things are actually starting to fit, so all the cute clothes we've gotten as gifts are starting to be worn. Today he's wearing a fuzzy blue bear outfit because it's so cold outside. Brrr!
